    After the meeting with the Sikh world in Amritsar and the town planning of Le Corbusier Chandigarth, we will leave towards the Himalayan buttresses towards Shimla and Mussorie. Your trip plunges then in the middle of the Hinduism, at Haridwar and Rishikesh, Holy Cities bordering the impetuous course of the Ganges.

 

Day 1: Delhi - Amritsar [450 km]. 

Route for Amritsar. In evening time, divine ceremony of Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Book of the sikhs in Darbar Sahib, knowing as Golden Temple.It’s located in the center of the  Amrit Sarovar, the “Lake of the Nectar” which gives its name to the city. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 2: Amritsar  

Sight seeing of the city. Visit of Jalianwala Bagh, memorial dedicated to the massacre in 1919 during the British colonial occupation. Late afternoon, ceremony in  the indo-Pakistani border. Night in hotel.

 

Day 3: Amritsar - Chandigardh [230 km]. 

Route for Chandigardh, built, in 1950 by the French architect Le Corbusier, this city does not resemble to any other in India

Visit of the beautiful Rock'n'roll Garden, Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 4: Chandigardh - Shimla [120 km]. 

Route for Shimla. In the past called Shyamala (one of the names of the goddess Kali), when this area belonged to Nepal. The city perched on a peak is surrounded by hills and pine forests. Visit of the botanical gardens, the church Christ, the second older Catholic church of the north of India, built about 1846, famous for these stained glasses and of the temple Hanuman, the point highest of the city, with 2.445m, from where you will have a very beautiful sight on the snow-covered area and her mountains. Transfer to the hotel. 

J 5: Shimla - Dehradun [245 km]. 

Route  for Dehradun. Visit of the city: The temple of Tapkeshwar, dedicated to Shiva. The  stupa and the statue of Buddha and the mausoleum of RAM Spoke Darbar. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 6: Dehradun - Mussoorie [38 km]. 

Route for Mussoorie. The area of Mussoorie is surrounded by the high valleys of Gange and the Yamuna river which sprinkles, low, in the old Mogul capital, Agra. The wooded hills surrounding the city, through which the river curves, were recently declared natural reserve. You will meet there many sddhus, which lives in the forest in harmony with the wild animals. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 7: Mussorie - Rishikesh [60 km]. 

Rishikesh is a city of pilgrimage where come, every year, thousands of Hindus in order to bathe in water of Ganges.
The city shelters many centers of meditation and schools of yoga which attract quantity of foreign tourists. In the Sixties Beatles made a stay there to follow a training course of meditation transcendental with the Yogi “Maharishi Malesh”. Visit of the city: Triveni Ghat, Lakshman Jhula: it is a suspended bridge which crosses Gange, Bharat Mandir: it is the oldest temple of Rishikesh. Possibility of excursion in Nilkanth Mahadev Melac: this temple is located at 1675 m of altitude. The road offers a beautiful panorama. The temple is dedicated to Nilkanth (another name of Shiva). Transfer to the hotel.

 

 Day 8: Rishikesh - Deoprayag [115 km].

Route for Deoprayag. Located at 1500 meters of altitude, this village is the confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi. It is at this place, where water of these two affluents mixes, that the Ganges takes officially its name. Deoprayag thus became a place particularly venerated with the eyes of the Hindus. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 9: Deoprayag - Haridwar [135 km]. 

Route for Haridwar, “the door for the gods” This city is one of the seven holy cities.Visite the temples of Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi. Not miss: the “Aarti” of Gange is celebrated daily with 7:00 PM. It is an incredible atmosphere; when the ceremony is celebrate in all the temples of Haridwar at the same time. Hundreds of people take part in osmosis in the prayer. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 10: Haridwar - Jim Corbett National Park [? km].

 Route for the National Corbett Park, first Indian national park created in 1936.
 Jim Corbett was un  hunter and conservative, who lived in the middle of the mountains of Kumaon, the park is located at the foot of the Himalayas, presents a broad variety of fauna and Indian flora covering 525 kms. Forest of pines, forest of teaks shelter many animal species: elephants, tigers, leopards, Dobor Goral, the black bear of the Himalayas, royal gazelles, Nigault antelopes, vipers, cobras, cobras, Indian pythons, crocodiles (Gavial of Gange), tortoises, brushes, cormorants, …. The Ramganga River offers fabulous moments of fishing. The park has a “sal tree” supposed to be largest in India. Jeep and elephants are available in the park. 

 

Closed: June 15th to November 15th . Transfer to the lodge.

 

Day 11: Jim Corbett National Park

Morning and Afternoon dedicated to the safari. Night in lodge.  

 

Day 12: Jim Corbett National Park - Delhi [300 km].

Morning dedicated to the park. Route for Delhi. Transfer to the airport or in hotel.
